Why Brand Strategy Provides Clarity
When my clients reflect back on my services, they end up really appreciating the clarity they have gained from the brand strategy portion of the project. Because it brings them so much value, I wanted to talk a little more about it.
Below are some reasons why investing in brand strategy can play such an important part during the design process and why if you haven’t invested in it yet, you may be missing out on how it can be such a great eye opener for your business.
First of all, exactly why might you need brand strategy?
Brand strategy helps you hone in and define your values, your mission and the aim of your business. It’s important, because ultimately you want to attract an audience that resonates with the services or products you offer and the value that you bring. In order to stand out, you need to take time to figure out why what you bring to the table helps others and perhaps fulfills a need that your customers may have been looking for.
Your brand strategy is something that you will be able to reference time and time again long after completion. After the brand strategy process is complete, all these new discoveries will be translated into a document and shared with you. The strategy helps maintain brand consistency and serves as a starting point when developing any visuals or messaging that you create in the future.
Now, let’s take a look inside my brand strategy process.
I start off every project by having my clients fill out a comprehensive questionnaire. It asks them key questions about their business. The questions cover various topics from my client’s passion and purpose to their audience and competition. The questionnaire helps them reflect about why they do what they do and how they attract their ideal clients. Clients gain more clarity about who they are, what exactly they want to focus on and who they want to serve.
I follow up the questionnaire with a brand strategy session. This is a time set up for us to chat more in depth about any of the answers completed in the questionnaire and for me to gain more clarity about their business. I want to make sure that we are on the same page before I start working on the visual aspects of their brand. This is super important because your brand identity (which is the visual aspect of your brand) should reflect your branding (the essence of your business).
Clients appreciate being guided and supported through this process. Bouncing ideas off one another helps clarify any thoughts and ideas about their business. My clients can sort through any obstacles they are facing and these sessions help with their decision making.
In conclusion, the brand strategy process has helped my clients…
…figure out how they look and feel in the world.
…articulate what they are about and what they do.
…get in touch with what they value.
